Job Description

The Coordinator of Aquatic Programs will be responsible for planning, marketing, scheduling and delivering all quality YMCA water-based programs for YMCA members, participants and guests. A successful candidate will be able to ensure all programs are in accordance with YMCA of Greater Cleveland and Y-USA standards and guidelines.

This is a Part Time position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Will assist in the facilitation of all private swim lessons, group lessons, YMCA camps, activities as well as all outside group classes for the Safety Around Water program.
2. Responsible for assigning and tracking private swim lessons.
3. Conducts regular/ frequent sanitation of all equipment (rescue and member used), and assigned areas as outlined by the employer and supervisor.
4. Must cover lessons when no instructor is available.
5. Supervise programming to ensure all YMCA of the USA curriculum and safety ratios are followed.
6. Assist YMCA leadership with instructor placement for YMCA camps and outside group safety programs.
7. Markets and promotes all aquatics programs in the community using multiple methods (print, digital, social media, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

1. Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working in aquatic programming.
2. Minimum of one (1) year of aquatic instruction.
3. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience preferred.

Certification(s) and Requirements:

1. Current CPR/AED Pro, O2 Management, Current First Aid.
2. Current Y lifeguarding or American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Instructor Certification a plus.
3. Current Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Instructor certification required.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

1. Must have proficient swimming skills and the ability to demonstrate freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly, side stroke and elementary backstroke.
