Job summary

Under the direction from the Program Director, Neurophysiology with medical director oversight, the Coordinator, Neurophysiology supports clinical and administrative functions of inpatient and outpatient/ambulatory areas including but not limited to EMU/EEG/EMG/NCS/EP across adult and pediatric populations. The Coordinator, Neurophysiology is accountable to comply with departmental guidelines and accepted neurophysiology care practices and assumes responsibility and accountability for coordinating neurophysiology services. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Daily/Monthly Operations
    • Develops and distributes monthly staffing schedule ensuring patient access and throughput.
  • Human Resources
    • Responsible for traveler/agency technologist screening, vetting and obtaining any leadership approvals for traveler staff.
  • Administrative
    • Demonstrates leadership skills and professional development as evidenced by direct supervision and feedback.
  • Clinical/Training/Technical
    • Supports clinical operations as needed to ensure continuity of staffing.
  • Quality/Safety
    • Coordinates and supports Neurophysiology Safety and Quality Committee.
  • Misc.
    • Other duties as assigned based on business and clinical need per the discretion of the Program Director, Neurophysiology.
Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree required in health care related field.

Experience

1. Five (5) years of progressive clinical experience performing complex neurodiagnostic procedures in newborn/neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patient populations within the hospital, EMU, ICU and/or outpatient setting required. 2.Two (2) years clinical preceptor/supervisory and/or leadership experience required in clinical neurophysiology or related fields including but not limited to electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), long-term monitoring (LTM), nerve conduction studies (NCS), and/or polysomnography (PSG).

Licensure

1. Current BLS certification. 2. Must hold two of the following credentials in neurodiagnostic technology / clinical neurophysiology which can include but is not limited to: REEGT*, REPT*, CLTM*, NA-CLTM*, CNIM*, CAP*, CMEG*, RNCST**, RPSGT***, and/or DABNM****.
a. *ABRET (Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation)
b. **AAET (The Nerve Conduction Association)
c. ***BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists)
d. ****ABNM (American Board of Neurophysiologic Monitoring)

Special Skills

Demonstrated sound judgment and complex decision making, critical thinking, ability to motivate and supervise others. Proficiency with use of databases, office software, and performance metrics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and strategize. EMR experience required (Epic preferred).

Physical Demand

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. They are occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. They are occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
