• Build and maintain relationships with physicians, nurses, genetic counselors, social workers, hospitals, clinics, universities, and other healthcare partners.
• Provide healthcare professionals with current Down syndrome information, referral materials, and organizational resources, including materials accessible to diverse families.
• Coordinate the DSACO Medical Advisory Committee, including member recruitment, meeting logistics, communication, priorities, and follow-up.
• Respond to family inquiries about physicians, healthcare services, and medically related resources, and connect families to appropriate organizational and community supports.

Status: Part-time, Nonexempt

Pay Range: $21.15–$26.92 per hour

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

ElevateDD is a platform dedicated to statewide advocacy work created to represent the entire scope of services and programming offered through each of our communities: the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO), Adult Literacy Ohio, and Learning Aid Ohio. The ElevateDD name represents what drives our advocacy, education, and innovation: elevating the voices of people with developmental disabilities, elevating the needs of families, and elevating advocacy issues to leaders and decision makers.

Our roots began with DSACO, which was created to support families, promote community involvement, and encourage opportunities for people with Down syndrome. As we continued to innovate and identify additional needs of those who we serve, we expanded programming to offer statewide developmental disability services. This growth resulted in the formation of two additional communities: Learning Aid Ohio and Adult Literacy Ohio. ElevateDD, through its various communities, now serves people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout every county in Ohio.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Coordinator, Medical Outreach strengthens DSACO’s relationships with healthcare professionals, medical systems, universities, and community partners so people with Down syndrome and their families can access current, accurate, compassionate, and accessible health information. The role connects families to medical resources, supports healthcare education, and helps ensure DSACO remains a trusted partner within the Down syndrome medical community.

This position maintains a consistent presence with medical partners, coordinates the Medical Advisory Committee, responds to family healthcare-navigation needs, and supports medical education and outreach initiatives. The role works within approved organizational guidance and escalates clinical, safety, privacy, legal, or high‑risk concerns to the appropriate leader.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Medical Partnerships & Community Outreach

• Maintain a regular presence with Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Down Syndrome Program and support DSACO resource navigation, referrals, and family connection.
• Build and maintain relationships with physicians, nurses, genetic counselors, social workers, hospitals, clinics, universities, and other healthcare partners.
• Provide healthcare professionals with current Down syndrome information, referral materials, and organizational resources, including materials that are accessible to diverse families.
• Coordinate the DSACO Medical Advisory Committee, including member recruitment, meeting logistics, communication, priorities, and follow‑up.

Family Navigation & Medical Education

• Respond to family inquiries about physicians, healthcare services, and medically related resources, and connect families to appropriate organizational and community supports.
• Coordinate educational sessions, webinars, and trainings with healthcare professionals based on family needs and emerging health topics.
• Support new and expectant parent services by connecting families and staff with accurate diagnosis, healthcare, early‑intervention, and specialty‑care resources.
• Coordinate healthcare content and speakers for the Adult Conference and other DSACO programs, trainings, or community education opportunities.

Research, Communications & Program Administration

• Monitor and share relevant local, state, and national Down syndrome research, medical guidance, and healthcare resources.
• Develop medical outreach content for newsletters, research updates, e-blasts, educational materials, and other approved communications.
• Maintain accurate outreach records, referral documentation, partner contacts, meeting notes, participation data, and program updates.
• Support medical outreach grant and funding opportunities by contributing program information, outcomes, partnership context, and reporting documentation.
• Participate in medical outreach networks and collaborate with Down syndrome organizations and other partners to strengthen resources and promising practices.
