Job summary

Day & Zimmermann in the United States seeks an experienced shipping and logistics professional to plan, direct, and control traffic activities, including coding, preparation and audit of shipping documents in line with DOT regulations.

The role also supports annual internal and external audits with government agencies, inputs all material data into SAP, and trains staff on handheld scanners to ensure accurate inventory and timely deliveries across internal teams.

Job description

Plans, directs, and controls traffic activities; support all audits.

Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support to personnel in coding, preparation and audit of shipping orders, shipping documents, government and commercial bills of lading as interpreted from DOT regulations. Also determines approved routing, correct rates, freight, classifications, equipment required, and protective services dictated for sensitive and/or classified items. Establishes shipping dates and coordinates shipping schedule internally with appropriate personnel for all incoming/outgoing shipments, producing efficient timely delivery of shipments using knowledge pertaining to carrier operations and procedures. Also includes inspecting commercial trucks.
  • Provide support in preparing for annual internal and external audits with DCMA Property, ATF, Homeland Security, etc. Includes assisting with and verifying annual inventory of all material.
  • Inputs all incoming Government Furnished Material and Company purchases production material into SAP, verifying the product is assigned to the correct contract number and delivery orders. Also ensures all material is properly labeled in accordance with internal barcoding systems.
  • Trains employees on proper use of handheld scanners to ensure accurate inventory and material movements between production and storage. Trains and leads clerk specialist in duties such as material reservation, invoicing, key control, dispatching internal drivers, phone calls, data entry, and filing.
KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Regularly exercise initiative, independent judgement and discretion in performance of duties.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and ATF Regulations
  • Ability to obtain certification required IATA, 49CRF, IMDG
  • Complete Knowledge with government and commercial billing of ladings.
  • Computer literacy including SAP, Word, and Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $52,160 - $ 78,240. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
