Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a data-related field with relevant professional experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in data analytics, database management, reporting, or BI
  • Certifications in BI or data analytics preferred

Position Purpose

The Coordinator of Data Analytics and Reporting leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of data systems, analytics, and reporting solutions that support timely, accurate, and data-informed decision-making across the District. The position is responsible for ensuring that student, school, program, and operational data are effectively collected, integrated, validated, stored, analyzed, and transformed into meaningful reports, dashboards, rosters, and other data products for district and campus stakeholders.

Working in close partnership with other Analytics, Assessment, Reporting & Accountability (AARA) teams, Curriculum & Instruction, School Leadership, and other district departments, the Coordinator ensures that reporting solutions are aligned with organizational priorities and stakeholder needs. The role establishes processes and quality controls that promote data accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and reliability across reporting systems.

The Coordinator also supports the District in moving beyond basic reporting toward actionable and forward-looking analytics by identifying trends, monitoring key performance indicators, evaluating student and program outcomes, and developing tools that help leaders identify opportunities, address areas of concern, and improve student outcomes. The position serves as a key connection between data systems, analytical methods, and the practical information needs of district and campus leaders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Leads the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of district data analytics, reporting, dashboard, and visualization solutions.
  • Gathers, integrates, organizes, and analyzes student, campus, program, and operational data from multiple district systems and data sources.
  • Develops and maintains automated and scalable reporting processes, datasets, queries, dashboards, and analytical tools that provide stakeholders with timely and actionable information.
  • Establishes and implements data validation, quality assurance, and reconciliation processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of reported data.
  • Analyzes complex student and school performance data to identify trends, achievement gaps, emerging concerns, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Applies appropriate statistical and analytical methods to transform complex data into meaningful findings, recommendations, and actionable insights.
  • Develops dashboards, reports, visualizations, presentations, rosters, and other data products tailored to the needs of district leaders, campus administrators, educators, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitors and reports key performance indicators, including student achievement, academic growth, attendance, graduation, college, career and military readiness, and other District priorities.
  • Supports federal, state, local, and District reporting requirements by ensuring required data and reports are accurate, complete, timely, and appropriately documented.
  • Partners with Curriculum & Instruction, School Leadership, AARA teams, and other departments to identify data needs, establish reporting requirements, and develop solutions that support instructional decision-making and school improvement.
  • Facilitates cross-functional work across departments to ensure alignment of data definitions, metrics, business rules, reporting methodologies, and performance measures.
  • Works directly with district and campus leaders to translate business and instructional questions into analytical approaches, reports, dashboards, and decision-support tools.
  • Develops and delivers professional learning, training, technical assistance, and presentations to strengthen stakeholder understanding and effective use of student achievement, accountability, and performance data.
  • Documents data sources, business rules, calculations, queries, workflows, reporting processes, and quality-control procedures to promote transparency, reproducibility, and continuity.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve reporting efficiency through automation, standardization, integration, and improved data architecture.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality, security, and governance of student and District data in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, and District requirements.
  • Manages multiple high-priority analytical and reporting projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines and maintaining accuracy during critical reporting and decision-making cycles.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and availability, including extended or adjusted work hours during key reporting cycles, planning windows, and other high-priority District initiatives.
Safety
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and District policies regarding student data, privacy, security, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL, SQL-based reporting tools, Power BI, Google Looker, and other data analytics and visualization platforms.
  • Advanced skill in querying, integrating, manipulating, validating, and analyzing large and complex datasets.
  • Skill in developing efficient SQL queries, automated reporting processes, dashboards, visualizations, and decision-support tools.
  • Skill in analyzing complex datasets to identify trends, gaps, relationships, and root causes and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Skill in designing intuitive, accurate, and actionable dashboards and reports appropriate for executive, campus, and operational audiences.
  • Skill in developing and implementing data protocols, reporting standards, business rules, and quality-control processes.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Skill in communicating complex analytical and technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Skill in collaborating across departments and functional teams within a large, complex organization to drive alignment, coherence, and execution.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Education, Educational Research, or a related field with relevant professional experience.
    • Advanced graduate degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Certification/License:
    • Certifications in database management, business intelligence, data analytics, or reporting and visualization platforms preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics, database management, reporting, business intelligence, SQL programming, or a closely related field.
    • Demonstrated technical proficiency in developing data visualization and reporting solutions, including the ability to design actionable dashboards that support instructional, operational, and school improvement decision-making.
    • Demonstrated experience working with large and complex datasets, writing efficient queries or code, validating data, documenting business rules and workflows, and developing repeatable reporting processes.
    • Experience collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders to translate organizational needs into data and reporting solutions within a large, complex organization preferred.
    • Experience working with K-12 education data, student information systems, assessment data, accountability data, or school performance reporting preferred.
