Qualifications

• RN, CNP, PA-C or ECFMG credentials required or eligible.
• 3–5 years of acute care clinical experience, preferably critical care.
• 2+ years of CDI experience and familiarity with ICD-10-CM guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Improve documentation quality and integrity in medical records using CDI knowledge.
• Identify factors influencing patient complexity and documentation needs.
• Serve as CDI SME, collaborating with physicians, APPs, nursing and CDS.
• Develop and lead education sessions for providers and CDS staff.
• Support CDI data capture, reporting and fiscal goals.
• Champion advancement of the Henry Ford Health CDI program.

This role is part of our Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) department, which plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient medical records across our health system. Our team works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to enhance documentation quality, supporting both clinical care and fiscal management goals. Role Overview

As an Inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (IP CDI) Coordinator, you will leverage your clinical, coding, and CDI expertise to enhance the quality and accuracy of medical records. You’ll identify factors influencing patient complexity, serve as a CDI subject matter expert, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance the Henry Ford Health CDI program. Your work will directly impact patient care, reimbursement accuracy, and overall healthcare quality.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Physician Assistant (PA-C), or International Medical Graduate.
• 3-5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting, preferably critical care.
• 2 years of CDI experience.
• Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with ICD-10-CM Coding Guidelines.
• Current RN, CNP, PA-C license, or ECFMG credentials.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Professional certification (CCDS or coding certification) preferred.
