Job summary

Ross Stores in the United States is hiring a Coordinator, HR Operations to support HR processes and maintain associate records for about 2,000 Buying Office associates. You will help with payroll, new hire activations, and data in PeopleSoft, replying to HR Connect inquiries and ensuring policy compliance.

The role is part of the HR Coordinator Development Program, offering rotation across HR COEs and hands-on experience in onboarding, payroll, and reporting, aimed at building foundational HR

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supports onboarding and new hire orientation and updates onboarding materials
  • Sets up new hires in PeopleSoft and maintains personnel files
  • Responds to HR Connect inquiries and escalates issues as needed
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll reports from timekeeping systems and troubleshoots issues
  • Maintains distribution lists and updates HR and department records
  • Assists with off-boarding and unemployment claim processes
  • Generates HR reports and participates in process improvement projects

About this opportunity...

The Coordinator, HR Operations is responsible for supporting HR processes and maintaining associate employment records for Ross Buying Office associates, including payroll processing, employment status changes, and new hire activations. This role serves as a key point of contact for associate inquiries submitted through the HR Connect mailbox, providing guidance on policies, payroll, and benefits while ensuring requests are resolved promptly and escalated appropriately. The Coordinator is also responsible for maintaining employee data within PeopleSoft and related systems, generating reports, and supporting payroll and workforce reporting for approximately 2,000 Buying Office associates.

This position is part of the HR Coordinator Development Program, designed to provide early-career HR professionals with broad exposure to multiple Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COEs). Participants gain hands‑on experience through rotational assignments across functions such as HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Communications & Engagement, building foundational HR knowledge and developing the skills needed for future growth opportunities within the organization.

The base pay range for this role is $22.00 - $28.00. The hourly rate listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

What you will do and what you will learn...
  • Supports weekly onboarding & orientation to new hires, ensures presentation deck is updated with current information.
  • Sets up new hires in PeopleSoft, creates & maintains associates' personnel files and ensures legal compliance via I9 checking and documenting process.
  • Provides Tier 1-level support to respond to & perform follow-up activities to employee and HR emails (HR Connect mailbox) for the Buying Offices. Escalates complex issues to manager, as appropriate.
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll reports from the timekeeping tracking system, including troubleshooting.
  • Maintains all Outlook distribution lists, updates and audits bi-annually.
  • Tracks and processes HR system updates to employee records during on-cycle (appraisal & mid-year cycles) and off-cycle promotions (C&B processing and tracking); activities include sending letters via DocuSign, updating supervisors and department information in PeopleSoft, filing of documents in the OnBase employee records system.
  • Prepares exit paperwork and coordinates off-boarding processes for HR Business Partners (e.g. submitting request and notifying appropriate parties, monitoring physical assets collection, tracking and filing documentation to support the completion of off-boarding procedures, etc.) timely and accurately.
  • Responds to and vets unemployment claims with Equifax to ensure accurate management of process.
  • Reports on HR Connect issues, analyzing and making process improvement recommendations.
  • Participates in projects and initiatives as requested.
