Job summary

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith is seeking a Coordinator of Health Learning Resource Center (HLRC) for a 12-month faculty-non-tenure (clinical) role. The coordinator will oversee the HLRC simulation labs, ensure maintenance of equipment, and supervise student workers in a dynamic health sciences environment.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in nursing, an Arkansas RN license, and 3–5 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical or ICU settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in nursing, current license as a registered nurse in the State of Arkansas, and 3-5 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical or intensive care nursing with a solid understanding of human pathophysiology.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate simulation equipment with the ability to manipulate physiologic data and scenarios, interpret participant responses and adjust accordingly.
• Coordinate all aspects of human and non-human simulation activities, including AV/IT technology, pre/post simulation activities and equipment.
• Contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of training materials and scenarios.
• Prepare and debrief scenarios, provide remediation of students on performance-based skills, and set up equipment for instructional use.
• Maintain and update affiliation agreements with healthcare facilities and oversee lab equipment, supplies, models, and maintenance.

Summary of Job Duties:

The Coordinator of Health LearningResource Center (HLRC) has responsibility for all activities, equipment, and resources associated with the HLRC. This includesoversight of the day-to-day operation of simulation activities inthe high-fidelity simulation lab as well as in the skills labs. Thecoordinator also oversees all operation, care, inventory,maintenance, troubleshooting, minor repairs and of simulationequipment, lab equipment, supplies, models, media and low/highfidelity manikins. This is a 12 month position. The positionreports to the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and HumanSciences.

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• (9%) Set up and operate simulation equipment with the abilityto manipulate physiologic data, follow medical aspects ofscenarios, interpret participant’s responses and make appropriateadjustments based on participant’s actions along with audio-videorecording, task trainer, and other supplies for simulationexercises to meet training objectives.
• (9%) Coordinating all aspects of human and non-human simulationactivities including but not limited to the following; integrating,maintaining, operating computer and audiovisual technology,performing pre and post simulation activities, executing simulationsessions equipment (patient simulators, task trainers, hospitalequipment, supplies, audiovisual equipment, pyxis) and applyingmoulage as needed.
• (7%) Contribute to the design, development, testing, andimplementation of training materials and scenarios.
• (4%) Conduct a scenario pre-brief and assist the instructorwith after action report (debrief) if needed.
• (5%) Maintains and updates memorandums of agreements andaffiliation agreements with healthcare facilities.
• (5%) Oversees all operation, care, inventory, maintenance,troubleshooting, minor repairs and of simulation equipment asrequired along with lab equipment, supplies, models, media andlow/high fidelity manikins.
• (3%) Prepare recommendation for approval of purchasingrequisitions of supplies, materials and lab equipment.
• (13%) Provide remediation of students as requested by facultyon performance-based skills throughout all levels
• (15%) Set up and prepare equipment for instructional use inskills lab and health assessment lab to meet faculty teachingobjectives.
• (4%) Coordinates student scheduling of campus labs, practicessessions and/or video recording for clinical competency performanceexamination (CPE).
• (3%) Orients faculty and students to the use of high-fidelitypatient simulators.
• (2%) Coordinate and provide student logistics, andadministration support needs.
• (4%) Facilitate simulation training and provide feedback to theLead Faculty and Simulation Coordinator.
• (1%) Duties may vary and are subject to change based onspecific site requirements, training platform, and equipment ateach site.
• Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere byacting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and byproviding leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-timeattendance

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• (2%) Oversees biohazard services, maintain safety standardswith regard to use of equipment and hazardous waste disposal.
• (3%) Interviews, hires and evaluates the performance of studentworkers in the HLRC.
• (2%) Acts as a liaison between faculty and healthcarefacilities in negotiating clinical contracts.
• (2%) Attends national simulation forums and conferences asappropriate to identify current trends in lab and simulationpedagogies.
• (2%) Assist in fit testing (N95 mask) for radiology and nursingprogram.
• (4%) Maintain faculty compliance in all health sciencesdepartment via Castle Branch/ Precheck.
• (1%) Other duties as assigned.
