Coordinator for Residence Life Administration
Job Summary

Reporting to an Assistant Director of Residence Life, and in partnership with the Associate Director of Residence Life,the coordinator for residence life administration is responsible for the implementation and coordination of administrative, humanresources, recruitment, and training processes for approximately200 student staff and 25 professional staff within the Office of Residence Life. This position will serve in the Area Duty Rotation– the second tier of the on-call structure at the University ofUtah. Residence Life at the University of Utah is responsible for fostering belonging and student success for a 7,000-bed residentialsystem, with aims to grow residential capacity to approximately10,000 beds by 2030. The coordinator will work collaboratively withthe Office of Residence Life team, colleagues in the Office of theDean of Student's and Housing & Dining Programs, StudentAffairs and academic partners to enrich the student experience andcreate 'College Town Magic.'

This role requires living on campus and includes on-callresponsibilities within an assigned area and across campus asneeded.

Professional development funds, a partial meal plan and movingexpense coverage will be provided, contingent upon annual budgetallocation.

The University of Utah is a tobacco-free campus. Smoking isprohibited on campus property, and smoking cessation support isprovided to faculty, staff, and students.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. The positionwill begin in the fall semester of 2026.

Responsibilities
Human Resource Coordination
  • Serve as the payroll reporter for the Office of Residence Life.Responsibilities include: timely delivery of payroll and relatedclient services, accurate payroll record keeping and reporting,auditing of employee timesheets, and preparation and processing ofpayroll for ORL personnel, including special payroll needs.
  • Partner with University of Utah Human Resource Management onhuman resource processes, including but not limited to: payroll,onboarding, offboarding, and other hiring transactions.
  • Serve as a permanent member of any recruitment and trainingcommittees (or related topics) within the Office of ResidenceLife.
  • With direction from the Associate Director, develop andimplement human resource management processes for internal usewithin the Office of Residence Life.
  • Engage in ongoing training offered through Human Resources andreport learnings back to supervisor.
  • Maintain and update an employee manual.
Staff Recruitment, Training, & Development
  • Assist in the development of hiring processes to recruit talentto the Office of Residence Life.
  • Assist in the creation of training, in partnership with HumanResources, pertinent for staff to successfully recruit and onboardstaff, ensuring compliance with university policy and state andfederal law.
  • Coordinate and maintain processes related to data managementand human resource information including but not limited tointerview questions, evaluation forms, rubrics, etc.
  • Coordinate the annual compliance training schedule, includingbut not limited to: Title IX, Clery, Guns on Campus, Free Speech onCampus, and others.
  • Coordinate logistics for all training initiatives, includingstudent and professional staff annual training.
  • Assist in the creation of an online training program for bothstudent and professional staff.
  • Manage the implementation of an online training program forboth student and professional staff.
  • Coordinate logistics as requested for all recruitmentinitiatives, including student and professional staffrecruitment.
  • Assist in developing a robust data collection system toevaluate efficacy of training and recruitment processes.
  • Manage onboarding of new employees, with direction fromAssociate Director and Assistant Director, including directcommunication with new employees.
Student Support & Accountability
  • Serve in the area duty rotation, the second tier on-call at theUniversity of Utah, to support incident response andmanagement.
  • As needed, serve as an adjudicator in the StudentAccountability process, managed by the Office of the Dean ofStudents'.
  • As needed, provide case management efforts for student supportcases as directed by the Student Support team within the Office ofthe Dean of Students'.
College Town Magic
  • Work to develop processes and initiatives that support thecreation of College Town Magic at the University of Utah.
  • Serve as an interim Resident Director or Residential CommunityCoordinator based on department need.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area plus two years experience inresidence life management, programming, student activities orequivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two yearsof related work experience) required. Demonstrated supervision,organization, planning, group dynamics, human relations andeffective communication skills also required. Master's degree inCollege Student Personnel or related area and one yearpost-master's related experience preferred.
