GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Framingham State University has a new strategic goal of ensuring that all students have access to experiential learning opportunities before they graduate. That will only be possible with strong support of internships and a robust tracking methodology. The Coordinator for Internship Operations role is an opportunity to support students, staff, and faculty as we pursue this goal in search of great career equity and economic mobility for our students.

The Coordinator for Internship Operations is responsible for facilitating, enhancing, and maintaining experiential learning and internship efforts across campus. This person will also oversee internship opportunities for FSU students, manage data related to student outcomes, and regularly advise students on career topics, as well as oversee the Career Champion program.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internship & Experiential Coordination - Specific Responsibilities (40% of time):
  • Oversee and manage the State University Internship Incentive (SUII) program and other funded internships for the school, including marketing, processing applications, data collection.
  • Research internship opportunity outcomes, including internship course audits and working with registrar to obtain data each semester
  • Oversee the management of "Request Experience" capabilities in Handshake to best track internship outcomes.
  • Regularly maintain appropriate data related to internships (for credit, not for credit), student on campus employment, and other experiential learning opportunities, such as student teaching assignments, department practicums, etc. presented through the university.
  • Utilize NACE and other professional associations to best understand national internship trends
Campus-Wide Career Integration (30% of time)
  • Coordinate Career Readiness Faculty Institute
  • Develop, maintain, and assess the Career Champion program, which includes teaching staff about career conversation, resources and embedding into their workflow.
  • Plan at least one mid-year refresher training for faculty Career Champions, in addition to summer faculty institute.
  • Coordinate assessment of Career Champion program and maintain data of goal outcomes for program.
  • Work with other offices on campus to provide resources about career readiness conversations, including but not limited to Academic Advising, co-curricular engagement offices, Admissions.
  • Coordinate classroom presentation requests, assign career staff for presentation, and maintain database of presentations.
Marketing Responsibilities (10% of the time)
  • Develop marketing materials and presentations to demonstrate the organization's value proposition to potential employers and on-campus stakeholders, including students, staff, and faculty
  • Manage content calendar to ensure accurate and timely advertisement of upcoming events and programs
Data Responsibilities (10% of time)
  • Collaborate with Center for Student Experience & Career Development Data Assistant to oversee the administration of the First Destination Survey and other data projects.
General Responsibilities
  • Assist in the hiring of professional, classified and student employees within the Center for Student Experience and Career Development
  • Maintain records to constantly evaluate programs and services to provide resource documents and data for year-end reports
  • Serve on Student Affairs and University-wide standing committees
  • Stay current on trends in higher education and career development through involvement in professional organizations, in-service training, and continued education
  • Work some evenings and weekend events in support of University and Departmental goals and functionality.
  • Contribute efforts to move the Center for Student Experience and Career Development to be anti-racist, including evaluating and updating policies and procedures
  • Designation as a Clery Campus Security Authority (CSA)
  • Accountable for ensuring that equal opportunity, equity, and inclusion are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Majority of work hours take place in an office environment requiring use of computer and telephone
  • Working both indoors and outdoors for certain events and activities, includes standing for periods of time, bending, crouching and any other body movements associated with event support
  • Some evening and weekend hours as events require
  • Some travel with student groups on buses, other provided transportation or own transportation needed
  • Remote work is allowed during low student presence time periods and when not needed for certain events, activities, and meetings
Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Personnel or related field, with graduate student experience.
  • 2 years of successful professional level experience in a career services or academic counselor higher education setting.
  • Preference of cultural competency student development theory and practice knowledge.
  • Knowledge of human resource management and state/federal guidelines regarding internships is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Handshake, Banner, and Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Information

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Coordinator for Internship Operations. The starting salary range is $60,000-62,000.
