Job summary

Penn State University is seeking an experienced Coordinator for Facility Operations to manage daily operations of the Intramural Building and lead student staff. This role reports to the Assistant Director for Facility Operations & Reservations and supports campus recreation initiatives.

The position emphasizes strong customer service, teamwork, and event coordination, with opportunities to collaborate across campus partners and ensure safe, efficient facility operations.

POSITION SPECIFICS

Campus Recreation is looking for an experienced and dynamic person to join our team as Coordinator for Facility Operations.

Under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Director for Facility Operations & Reservations, the Coordinator for Facility Operations will serve on the team responsible for the daily operation and management of the Intramural Building.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Intramural Building.
• Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student employees, including supervisors, leads, and attendants.
• Ensure proper compliance with risk management processes and protocols for facility operations. Maintain all risk management records according to department and University policy.
• Manage payroll for facility operations student staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A master’s degree in recreation, sports management, higher education, or a related field is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in student development.
• Knowledge of safety and risk management practices as they relate to facility operations.
• A working knowledge of software systems such as Innosoft Fusion, WhenToWork, Connect2, or similar is preferred.

Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides recreation and wellbeing programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: Intramural Building, McCoy Natatorium, Stone Valley Recreation Area, Tennis Center, White Building, Hepper Fitness Center, Aquatics, Athletic Training, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellbeing, Intramural Sports, and Outdoor Adventures. Campus Recreation is comprised of 48 full-time staff and more than 700 student staff members.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedRequired Certifications:None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $49,188.00 - $71,340.00.
