Overview

Schedule: M-F (Day Shift)

Schedules, plans, and facilitates activities, programs, and events. Maintains related resources and activity rooms to provide developmental, educational, recreational, and socialization opportunities for children and families.

Essential Functions
  • Engages children and families in hands‑on activities to foster creativity, socialization, normalization, and play.
  • Adapts activities in a group setting during room‑to‑room visits and in bedside play to meet identified needs with consideration of developmental, educational, physical, and social needs.
  • Communicates and collaborates with team members regarding patient and family experiences, documents all patient interactions, maintains data related to activity participation, and provides timely communication.
  • Schedules, plans, and organizes groups and visitors to support them in their interactions with children, families, and staff to enhance positive patient experiences.
  • Actively maintains playroom resources to sustain a safe, clean, and accessible learning and play environment and manage departmental resources.
  • Provides training and supervision for volunteers to ensure appropriate interaction and maintaining a safe environment.
Educational and Licensure Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Education, Psychology, or related field, required.

Experience
  • Experience working with children in a healthcare setting, preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally climb stairs/ladder, lift/carry 11–20 lbs, 21–40 lbs, push/pull 0–25 lbs, 26–40 lbs, sit frequently bend/twist, exposure to blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, medications, communicable diseases, computer skills, flex/extending neck, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, interpreting data, lift/carry 0–10 lbs, patient equipment, reach above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, squat/kneel, walk continuously.
  • Sitting: bend/twist, blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, medications, communicable diseases, computer skills, flex/extending neck, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, interpreting data, lift/carry 0–10 lbs, patient equipment, reach above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, squat/kneel, walk continuously.
  • Continuously: audible speech, color vision, decision making, depth perception, hearing acuity, peripheral vision, problem solving, seeing – far/near, standing.
