General Duties: Essential Functions
Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of all aspects of the District's Extended Learning program. Works closely with the Officer of Innovation, Access, and Opportunity, Building Principals, other District Administrators, Coaches and teachers to develop, monitor, and evaluate program content and effectiveness;
- Responsible for the development, implementation, growth, and monitoring of Extended Learning Programs
- Coordinates all aspects of planning and logistics for Extended Learning. Extended Learning is defined as learning opportunities outside of the regular school day (before and after school programming, vacation school, summer school, and extended day opportunities). This includes communication and coordination with supporting departments, administrators, staff members, students, and families, hiring of staff and site supervisors in conjunction with building administrators, student recruitment in conjunction with school staff, and partnering with outside organizations
- Collaborates with instructional and curriculum departments in selection of instructional materials and curriculum development for Extended Learning programs
- Develops reporting and data collection techniques to measure the effectiveness of programs and recommend appropriate changes to ensure the success of each program
- Works in collaboration with administrators when necessary for the supervision of school-based team
- Prepares and monitors the budgets for all extended learning program
- Supervises the ordering, inventory, and distribution of materials and equipment
- Conduct research to identify new public and private funding opportunities for extended Collaborates with related departments to research, recommend and write proposals and funding applications.
- Develops and fosters strong relationships with external organizations and Serves as the central office contact and liaison with business and non-profit community agencies regarding Extended Learning.
- Represents the school division in relevant educational projects and initiatives at the local, regional, state, and national
- Organizes meaningful work-based learning opportunities for students through business/industry and community
- Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations and prepares all reports required by the State Department of Education, the Federal Government and the Chelsea Public Schools
- Participates in the development and implementation of District Accelerated Improvement Plan
- Oversees professional development including overseeing department meetings, PLCs, early release and professional development day sessions for the Extended Learning department.
- Participates on District Leadership Team for coherence and collaboration
- Build supportive and trusting collaborative partnerships between parents, schools and community members.
- Informs the community and all relevant stakeholders about the objectives, policies, and progress of the Extended Learning programs
- Participates in supervision and evaluation; observes instruction and provides feedback, and supports Extended Learning team members' professional growth
- Works with the Human Resource Department and school administration in the recruiting, interviewing, and recommendations of qualified staff
- Collaborates with School Administrative Teams to assure that all Extended Learning educators are involved in high quality professional development programs
- Attends DESE mandated meetings and any other related meetings
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
- MA DESE licensure in a Supervisor/Director
- Master's Degree in related field
- 5 years of demonstrated success and experience leading extended learning programming
- Demonstrated success working with immigrant and refugee populations
- Demonstrated success in all aspects of program management and budgeting
- Experience in urban educational setting
- Demonstrated success with curriculum development and implementation and effective professional development
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with others
- Ability to work with a diverse population
Qualifications Preferred
- Bilingual Spanish
- Experience with dual language programs
- 3 years teaching experience
- Experience in collaborative educational environment and shared decision-making modeled on Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
Terms: In accordance with the provision of the district's contract with the Chelsea Administrations' Association (CAA), 215 Days.
