Coordinator, Collections, Insurance Accounts Receivable Specialist
About Navista

We believe in the power of community oncology to support patients through their cancer journeys. As an oncology practice alliance comprised of more than 40 sites, Navista provides the support community practices need to fuel their growth – while maintaining their independence.

What Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) contributes to Cardinal Health

Revenue Cycle Management focuses on a series of clinical and administrative processes that healthcare providers utilize to capture, bill, and collect patient service revenue. The revenue cycle shadows the entire patient care journey and begins with patient appointment scheduling and ends when the patient’s account balance is zero.

The Collections team is responsible for the collection of outstanding medical oncology/infusion insurance accounts receivable. This includes understanding how an insurance payer adjudicates claims, how to successfully work a patient’s account, how to handle a dispute/appeal, developing payment plans with customers, and building relationships of trust with external customers and internal business partners.

The Coordinator, Collections, is responsible for the timely follow-up and resolution of assigned payer, oncology medical insurance claims. This role ensures accurate and efficient collection of outstanding balances from insurance payers, working to reduce aging accounts receivable and increase cash flow for the organization. Productivity and QA are closely monitored/measured on a weekly basis, and each team member is held accountable for their work quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Review aging reports and work insurance accounts to ensure timely resolution and reimbursement.
  • Contact insurance companies via phone, portals, or E-Mail to check claim status, request reprocessing or escalation issues.
  • Analyze denials and underpayments to determine appropriate action (appeals, corrections, resubmissions).
  • Track and follow up on all submitted appeals until resolution.
  • Analyze explanation of benefits (EOBs) and remittance advice to determine the reason for denial or reduced payment.
  • Document all collection activities in the practice management/billing system according to departmental procedures.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within payer-specific guidelines and timelines.
  • Coordinate with other billing team members, coders, and providers to resolve claim discrepancies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, coding changes, and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all relevant federal/state billing regulations.
  • Flag trends or recurring issues for team leads or supervisors.
  • Meet daily/weekly productivity goals (e.g., number of claims worked, follow-ups completed).
  • Assist with special projects, audits, or other duties as assigned.
  • Understand and utilize technology and resources provided to work assigned payers and denial work queues.
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience, preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical insurance claim processing and denial management preferred. Medical Oncology/infusion experience is desired.
  • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, IPAs, commercial insurance plans, and managed care preferred.
  • Proficiency in billing software (e.g. Athena, G4 Centricity, Unlimited Financials, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite, PowerBI and Copilot experience desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
