Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking for a fulfilling and dynamic opportunity? Join our exceptional team at the Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) and be at the forefront of advancing cardiovascular medicine through cutting-edge clinical trials! We’re looking for a dedicated RN Clinical Research Coordinator to play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our clinical research mission while providing patients with access to innovative treatments and therapies.

Why Join Us?

As part of the HVI team, you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with expert clinicians and interact with patients who are eager to participate in industry-sponsored clinical trials of groundbreaking medical devices and medications. You will be directly involved in advancing healthcare for individuals with cardiovascular conditions, which is not only professionally rewarding, but also impactful for patients who trust us with their care.

What You’ll Do:

The RN Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) plays an integral role in identifying appropriate candidates for clinical trials, ensuring patient safety during trials, and contributing to the overall success of these studies. You will work closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) and clinical research teams to ensure adherence to protocols, regulations, and clinical objectives. Your clinical expertise will guide patients through their trial journey, and you will develop long-lasting relationships with many who choose to participate. The role is a mix of administrative and clinical work, providing a dynamic work environment that evolves with every trial.

The breakdown of responsibilities is as follows:

  • 80% desk and computer work: Reviewing and managing trial data, ensuring compliance, coordinating with teams.
  • 20% clinical work: Direct interactions with patients, conducting assessments, and providing support during the trial process.

In this role, you will continually learn, grow, and discover new advancements in cardiovascular care. You’ll be directly involved in research that has a real-world impact on the medications and devices available to patients nationwide. You might even recognize a medication you worked on in those pharma commercials on TV—a direct reminder of the important work you're contributing to!

What We Offer:

  • Collaboration and Respect: Enjoy working with physicians who deeply value your contributions. You’ll often work directly with Principal Investigators (PIs) and other experts who appreciate the integral role you play.
  • Supportive Team: Knowledgeable and engaging team of nurses and staff focused on providing opportunities to supplement the already exceptional care here at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
  • Meaningful Patient Interactions: Your patients will generally be motivated individuals, eager to improve their health and take part in clinical trials. Many will remain with you for years, creating a deep sense of connection and trust.
  • Advancing Medicine: Feel the pride and satisfaction of knowing your work is directly contributing to the progress of cardiovascular healthcare.
  • Diverse and Exciting Work: No two days are the same, with continuous opportunities to learn and apply new skills.

What We’re Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you will need to bring your nursing expertise, enthusiasm for clinical research, and a genuine desire to make a difference in patients’ lives. We value experience, dedication, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic research environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • 2 years clinical experience as an RN required.
  • 2 years clinical research experience required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Research certification (SoCRA or ACRP) required. If not certified, must be willing to pursue and obtain certification within six months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a clinical research setting is preferred but not required.
