Munson Healthcare Careers in northern Michigan is seeking a dedicated leader to oversee the Child Development Department, ensuring quality care and compliance with licensing standards. The role includes staffing, collaboration with the Development Manager, budget stewardship, and program policy development.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Development (or related), an associated degree with a related field, or a CDA certificate, and must meet Michigan licensing

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or equivalent
• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development with related Bachelor's degree
• Current CDA Certificate with 12 hours of Child Development classes
• Must meet Michigan licensing requirements for a Program Director
• Demonstrated knowledge of Early Childhood development and ability to manage a child care facility
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day responsibilities of the site including staffing, parent communication, scheduling, and compliance with state requirements and MHC policies.
• Manage Children’s Educational Services for the children, parents, and staff to promote quality development.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and records and respond to questions from parents and children.
• Develop goals and objectives for the Child Development Department with the department manager.
• Operate Child Development programs within budget and ensure licensing standards are met.
• Oversee compliance with Head Start, Early Head Start, and Great Start Readiness Program and collaborate with community partners.

A Day in the Life

• The coordinatoris responsible forall day-to-day responsibilities of their site. Staffing, parent communication, scheduling, complianceofstate requirements and all MHC policies.
• Manages the Children’s Educational Services by addressing the specific and unique needs of the children, parents, and staff. Quality care will be promoted through the physical, social,emotionaland cognitive development ofthe children.
• Communicates,relatesand interacts effectively with all children, parents, and staff.
• Maintains confidentiality of information and records.
• Responds to parents/children’s questions, concerns and needs effectively andtimely.
• Coordinate with the MHC Child Development Manager on developing goals andobjectivesfor the Child Development Department, and will be responsibleto develop,implementandevaluateprogram policies.
• Willoperatethe Child Development programs within budgetary parameters.
• Is responsibleto maintainLicensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) standards.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Overseesprogram compliance with Head Start, Early Head Start, and Great Start Readiness Program.
• Collaborates with other Child Development related agencies for program compliance and implementation.
• Participates in strengthening relationships with community collaborative effortsin the area ofEarly Childhood.
• Overseesall budgetary and financial parameters related togrant basedpartnerships.
• Acts as a mentor with new MHC Child Development department programs related togrant basedpartnerships
• Monitoring and evaluating each staff member.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development OR
• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Developmentwith aBachelor’s Degreein a related field of study such as Social Work, Business, Psychology etc. OR
• Current CDA Certificate with 12 hours of Child Development classes
• Must meet State of Michigan Department of Social Services licensing requirements for a Program Director
• Must havedemonstratedknowledge of Early Childhood development and the ability to manage achild carefacility.
• Must complete all CACFP duties as assigned
• Demonstrated ability to effectivelyassistwith development and management of the child development department
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.

Schedule

Monday - Friday (between hours of 6am - 6pm)

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
