Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1–2 years’ experience with adult and developmental education students, especially those with disabilities.

  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diversity and values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead student-focused digital accessibility and disability compliance (ADA Title II, 504, 508).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Affairs to develop policies and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Provide individualized academic advising and case management for students needing accessible education support.
  • Conduct intake screenings and review assessments to establish eligibility and accommodations.
  • Coordinate with faculty and Testing Center to deliver testing accommodations and resources.
  • Represent the College at high school IEP meetings and connect students with services.
  • Design and deliver training on accessibility best practices for staff.
  • Maintain student records in Colleague, SARS-Grid, and Self Service.
  • Submit compliance reports and stay updated on accessibility trends.
  • Offer guidance and resource referrals and assist with crisis support with Counseling.
  • Perform other duties to support College mission.

Job description

The Access and Accommodations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring equitable access to College programs, services, and learning environments for students with disabilities and accessibility needs to achieve their academic and career goals. Guided by the College’s commitment to being student-focused and inclusive, this position reviews disability documentation, establishes reasonable accommodations, and provides academic advising and case management for students. The Coordinator collaborates with LC team members and community partners to connect students with resources that promote inclusive practices, fosters academic success, and personal growth. The role leads institutional accessibility initiatives, assistive technology resources, digital accessibility efforts, campus wide education, and ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II, Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and all related accessibility regulations.

  • Serve as the institutional lead and primary contact for student-focused digital accessibility and disability compliance, including ADA Title II, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and all related regulatory standards.
  • Partner with the Director of Student Affairs & Transfer Outreach to develop policies, and ensure institutional adherence to state, federal, and best-practice standards
  • Provide individualized academic advising and ongoing case management for students requiring accessible education support, Honors College students, and general student populations during peak enrollment period.
  • Conduct intake screenings, review diagnostic/educational assessments, and interpret cognitive evaluations to establish eligibility and implement tailored academic and testing accommodations.
  • Collaborate with faculty, the Testing Center, and campus partners to deliver testing and classroom accommodations, auxiliary aids, and skill-building resources (e.g., self-advocacy, study strategies, and time management) that drive student persistence and success.
  • Represent the College at high school IEP meetings, respond to prospective student and family inquiries, and connect students with internal departments and external community agencies to address personal barriers and foster long-term success.
  • Design and deliver training, presentations, and updated best-practice guidance for team members to promote awareness, foster an inclusive environment, and support accessible education standards across campus.
  • Maintain accurate student records in Colleague, SARS-Grid, and Self Service.
  • Submit compliance and evaluation reports, engage in departmental planning, and stay current on emerging trends in accessibility services.
  • Offer guidance and resource referrals for students facing academic or personal challenges, providing temporary coverage and immediate crisis support in coordination with the Counseling Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the mission and values of the College.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling or similar field required.
  • One to two years’ experience working with adult and developmental education students, especially those with disabilities.
  • Previous experience evaluating 504 and IEP plans for students.
  • Availability to work flexible hours to meet student needs including evening hours during the week and some weekends.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and individual diversity and values.

The College’s standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (includes a one-hour unpaid lunch). Individual position schedules may vary or be adjusted by the department manager based on operational needs. Alternate schedules are observed during the summer.
