Job description

Job Summary

Provide reasonable accommodations to qualifying students with disabilities, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended (ADAAA)/Section 504 and other relevant federal and state laws. Provide disability‑related advising, support, and advocacy. Assess and facilitate eligibility for services and arrange for reasonable accommodations through an interactive, student‑centered process. Provide reasonable accommodations to qualifying pregnant and/or parenting students, in accordance with Title IX and state laws.

Required Qualifications
  • Provide individualized disability‑related advising and goal‑setting support services for students with disabilities.
  • Interact with students to identify barriers to equal access to the educational environment (curricular and co‑curricular); determine appropriate access and reasonable accommodations within the guidelines of federal, state, local laws, office procedures and college policy.
  • Determine student eligibility for reasonable accommodations by conducting interviews, reviewing medical, psychological, educational, or other documentation and considering their professional assessment.
  • Coordinate the provision of access and reasonable accommodations in collaboration with students, faculty and staff. Ensure accommodations are being received.
  • Consult with students, faculty, and staff and provide education, training, resources and referrals that support equal access in the college community.
  • Provide coaching to support students in developing self‑advocacy skills.
  • Create and maintain appropriate records and documentation of services.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and privacy in verbal and written communication.
  • Ensure qualifying pregnant and parenting students receive reasonable accommodations in accordance with federal and state law.
  • May proctor and administer tests for students who are eligible for alternative testing accommodations.
  • Develop and administer disability awareness programs and professional development activities for faculty and staff promoting greater sensitivity toward disabilities.
  • Assist in providing support during special registration and assessment events.
  • Participate in evening and weekend services, as needed.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Sedentary work—exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Occasional physical effort required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of one (1) year of related experience working with or teaching individuals who have disabilities.

Preferred

Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

Compensation and Employment Type

Full time. Hiring minimum: $59,472.00. Hiring maximum: $72,527.00. Compensation is determined based on experience.
