Description/Notes: JOB SUMMARY
The JROTC Coordinator plays a critical leadership role in advancing HISD’s mission of high-performance culture by overseeing and coordinating JROTC programs across all service branches. This position ensures that JROTC instructors and cadets receive high-quality support, professional development, and operational guidance that enhance their leadership skills, academic performance, and career readiness. By managing data-driven strategies, stakeholder engagement, and continuous program improvement, this role directly supports HISD’s vision of preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving workforce while fostering discipline, teamwork, and civic responsibility.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Must be an Army retired E-9 Command Sergeants Major (CSM) or Sergeants Major (SGM). At least 4 years of classroom instruction or comparable work in a large urban school district. Attend and have successfully completed the United States Army Cadet Command JROTC basic and advance courses. Must maintain all qualifications and eligibility requirements as a JROTC instructor as prescribed in military regulations, policies, and guidelines. Must be able to perform duties as a substitute JROTC instructor when required. Possess human resources, managerial, counseling, and instructional leadership skills. Be knowledgeable of military protocol, administration, operations, and training procedures. Skills in computer programming, scheduling, planning, organizing, reporting, and directing others. In-depth knowledge of military and civilian administration, pay procedures, regulations, and counseling techniques. Computer and applicable software proficiencies. Managerial, liaison, and instructional proficiency.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000
