Job summary

Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a full‑time Coordinator to support the Friendly Visiting Program and strengthen connections between volunteers and older adults in our community. The Coordinator will recruit, onboard, place, and support volunteers across QCH’s network of programs.

Friendly Visiting connects volunteers with homebound older adults to reduce social isolation, provide companionship, and help monitor general well‑being.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Human Services, Social Services, or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Friendly Visiting Program with focus on volunteer recruitment, interviewing, placement, and ongoing engagement.
  • Screen prospective volunteers and clients, provide program information, and refer to other QCH programs as needed.
  • Manage volunteer onboarding and orientation.
  • Conduct client home visits and assessments.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports and data entry as required by NYC Aging.
  • Coordinate volunteer recognition events, trainings, and communications.
  • Develop content for volunteer newsletters and social media groups.
  • Identify community outreach and recruitment opportunities.
  • Maintain program records and prepare statistical reports.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a full-time Coordinator to support our Friendly Visiting Program and help strengthen connections between volunteers and older adults in our community.

The Coordinator will help recruit, onboard, place, and support volunteers while connecting prospective volunteers with opportunities across QCH’s network of programs.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with the coordination of the Friendly Visiting Program, with a focus on volunteer recruitment, interviewing, placement, and ongoing engagement.
  • Conduct initial screenings of prospective QCH volunteers and clients, provide information about Friendly Visiting, and make referrals to other QCH programs as appropriate.
  • Manage the Friendly Visiting volunteer onboarding and orientation process.
  • Conduct client home visits and assessments.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports and data entry as required by NYC Aging.
  • Coordinate and execute volunteer recognition events, trainings, and other opportunities to recognize and engage volunteers.
  • Manage Friendly Visiting volunteer social media groups and develop content for monthly volunteer newsletters, tip sheets, and other communications.
  • Identify and participate in community outreach and volunteer recruitment opportunities, including fairs, local markets, community organizations, and businesses.
  • Maintain accurate program records and prepare statistical and activity reports related to Friendly Visiting volunteer participation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development, and other agency activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Communications, Nonprofit Leadership, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Nonprofit, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, direct, and mobilize volunteers.
  • A community-minded approach with strong relationship-building, communication, and networking skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and some weekends as needed.
  • Must successfully complete the required NYS Clearance Review Background Check upon hire.
