WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends)

POSITION PURPOSE

Supports the development, implementation and coordination of instructional initiatives at selected magnet schools for the MSAP Project Elevate grant in order to increase the level of digital literacy for students, instructional staff and administration. The position is grant funded and are expected to end September 30, 2028; however, grant funding is subject to renewal on an annual basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of state and national standards for curriculum, including instructional technology;
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instructional process and assessment;
  • Considerable knowledge of the implementation of technology projects and plans;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
  • Critical thinking and problem–solving skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to set goals and develop long-range and short-range plans to achieve excellence in selected magnet school instructional technology programs;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Three years of K-12 teaching experience implementing technology in the classroom;
  • Experience with planning and delivering professional training to adult learners.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license in Instructional Technology Specialist-Computers (00077) or Computer Education (18079).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction or related field;
  • Experience as a school or district-based technology facilitator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Aligns the mission, resources, and activities of the instructional technology program in selected magnet schools with the Common Core State and North Carolina Essential Standards and Wake County Public School System’s priorities for learning and teaching.
  • Communicates the vision and requirements for an effective technology-enabled instructional program to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates fluency with a wide range of digital resources which support inquiry and student-centered learning, professional best practices, and acquisition of 21st century skills.
  • Ensures that the tools and resources of the instructional technology program support the diverse developmental, cultural, social, and linguistic needs of students and their communities.
  • Provides professional development addressing instructional theory, practice, and resources that promote learning and teaching.
  • Fosters collaboration within the magnet school community to design, deliver and assess instructional activities that promote learner competence and confidence with 21st century skills.
  • Models ethical principles including safe, legal, and ethical use of digital resources and tools including copyright, intellectual property, digital etiquette, and virtual social interactions. Upholds the Code of Ethics for North Carolina Educators and Standards for the Professional Conduct.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work requires driving automotive equipment. Requires regular travel to designated MSAP magnet schools within Wake County.
