Position Responsibilities

• The Room Control Coordinator obtains patient information to assign, control, and log appropriate service accommodations for patients admitted for care.
• Coordinates special transfers according to room availability and admission approval from other medical facilities.
• Facilitates transfers from other healthcare organizations with administration by collecting appropriate demographic and financial data, approving transfers meeting criteria, and obtaining approvals for exceptions to transfer policies.
• Accepts reservations for incoming patients, urgent admissions, and day surgery.
• Coordinates activities with nursing staff and physician offices to accommodate reservations due to impending conditions such as bed shortages, staff shortages, room transfers, and patient overflow.
• Reviews and reconciles all clinical dashboards with the bed board.
• Operates telephone switchboard to answer, screen, route calls and relays messages. Answers “code phone” and pages appropriate information.
• Responsible for remaining aware of disaster plan and procedure to follow in the event of a drill or an actual disaster occurs.
• Appropriately escalates potential service issues to management when necessary.
