Job summary

Sacramento Native American Health Center is seeking a Clinical Application Coordinator to support and implement multi-service clinical software used in the clinic, including NextGen and related EMR systems. You will contribute to data capture, workflow improvements, and system administration while coordinating with the IT Manager.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $31.00 - $33.00 Hourly

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $31.00/HR-$33.00/HR.

Position Summary

The Clinical Application Coordinator (CCA), reporting directly to the Information Technology Manager, will serve as a specialist/integrator in the implementation and ongoing support of the multi-service clinical software applications used throughout the clinic. The multi-service clinical applications that support the clinic are defined as, but not limited to, EHR, EDR, File Management, Practice Management and Document Management components of NextGen, clinical interfaces into and out of NextGen (HL7 and NCS), RPMS, Dentrix, iCare, Quest Care360 and other reporting/analysis software.

This role will have an assigned primary location but may be required to work at or travel to different locations as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Implements and supports the multi-service software packages that automate the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval.
  • Manages and maintains all aspects of customizing multi-service software packages.
  • Manages and maintains note templates and perform necessary gap analysis prior to EMR system upgrades, with the support of the Information Technology Manager.
  • Coordinates implementation of new clinical software products.
  • Provides input and evaluation of clinical workflows as related to the software implementation.
  • Provides NextGen workflow training as related to the software implementation.
  • Implements and coordinates data collection activities and maintains quality improvement activities in compliance with Health Measurement requirements, within the scope of the clinical application software and in coordination with the QI Manager.
  • Coordinates and implements health priorities with Indian Health Services, both at national and area offices, to ensure collection, maintenance and facilitate reporting of required health indicators.
  • Assists with necessary benchmarking workflows as required for Meaningful Use process implementation.
  • Assists clinic staff to ensure that health data is accessible electronically, and reported accurately for internal and external purposes.
  • Participates with QI Coordinator in activities of Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Creates, manages and monitors user accounts and passwords for clinical systems.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves electronic health information problems as first responder to clinical application trouble tickets.
  • Assists in the maintenance of clinical system documentation including workflow changes.
  • Coordinates efforts to correct deficiencies and errors that occur in the electronic health record.
  • Complies with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to the position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, OSHA etc.
  • Actively participates in internal quality improvement teams. Works with team members proactively to support quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals for the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • At all times demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and the community.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with Native American people in culturally diverse environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree related to information systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD diagnosis and procedures codes, and CPT Codes preferred.
  • NextGen Certified Professional (NCP) on Electronic Health Records and Practice Management strongly preferred.
  • Epic (ESA) for Electronic Health Records strongly preferred.
  • Database Administrator Certification
  • Knowledge of traditional, cultural, and spiritual practices of the diverse Al/ AN community, as well as ability to work with other racially, culturally ethnically, and financially diverse populations.
