Role Mission

RISE stands for Reaching Independence through Support and Education. IDEA Cooperating Special Education RISE teachers ensure that students with a wide range of learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities are held to high achievement expectations to reach their fullest potential. They teach all subjects including Reading, Writing, Math, History, Adaptive PE, and others, to students with intellectual, behavioral, and physical disabilities. They also provide resources, training, and emotional support to families to help them prepare for their children's long-term plans.

What We Offer
Compensation
  • The starting salary for teachers with 0 years of experience is $62,000. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications and credentials, ranging from $500 to $4,000. Opportunities for additional earnings include a Teacher Career Pathway with potential bonuses up to $10,000. Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to obtain required TX certifications within 18 months; must provide relevant documentation or exam registration receipt

Responsibilities
  • Adapt lessons and develop IEPs
  • Implement and assess IEPs, track progress, and update plans
  • Communicate regularly with families and team members
  • Support student transition and implement standards and assessments
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings and professional development
  • Spend at least 40 hours weekly at school, with additional tutoring as needed
