Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations Company in Glen Rose, Texas invites Co-op students to join the Maintenance department at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, gaining hands-on exposure to preventive and corrective maintenance in a strict compliance environment.

Enrolled students in a two-year program will develop strong technical writing, interpersonal, and PC skills while contributing to safety and quality standards in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a two-year degree program in Instrument and Control, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical; at least two semesters completed satisfactorily.
• Self-starter with a driven attitude.
• Good technical writing skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Basic PC skills.
• Professional work ethic.
• Strong desire to learn and ability to acquire new skills.
• Able to apply knowledge to new situations.
• Has confidence in their ability to make the right decisions, or if unsure asking for directions before proceeding.
• Ability to adapt and excel in a strict compliance based environment.

Physical/Mental Demands & Working Conditions:

• Occasional Long/Irregular Hours.
• Work around energized (mostly low voltage) and in-service plant equipment.
• Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs; occasional climbing with body harness.
• Both indoor and outdoor industrial settings.
• Use of a computer terminal and/or telephone.
