Job summary

Synthomer’s Ohio operations offer a co-op environment where you will learn quality-testing procedures and collaborate with R&D engineers, lab technicians and operators on latex polymer scale-up. You will work with P&IDs, assist in creating polymer batch recipes, and use Excel to analyze data and optimize tasks.

Additionally, you will help modify process diagrams, validate JHA and SOP procedures, and participate in safety meetings and plant-improvement projects to support a safe, efficient

Co-op will work with R&D engineers, lab technicians, and operators in various aspects of the latex polymer scale-up process. Specific duties include learning quality-testing procedures, working with P&IDs, understanding batch polymerization, and assisting in creating procedures and recipes for various polymer batches.

Attend daily operations meeting

Observe process hazard analysis for various parts of the plant

Modify/create polymer batch recipes

Utilize excel to perform/optimize various tasks

Modify/create process and instrumentation diagrams

Validate JHA and SOP procedures for all work.

Work with operators/technicians to create a safe work environment

Learn and utilize different analytical techniques for determining quality of materials created

Work on various plant improvement projects

Attend all safety meetings and participate in safety inspections
