Job summary

Prairie Farms Dairy, Inc. in Hammond, LA is seeking a Full Time Manual Labor worker to support loading of trucks and preparation of product. The role follows 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week, day/morning shift, with overtime may be required; pay is $20.00 per hour plus other compensation components.

You will load/unload, move full cases, follow GMPs, SOPs, and OSHA rules; maintain clean area; keep records; supervise boxline/loadout; training provided; must be able to operate forklifts and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience in a warehouse setting.
• Familiarity with operating forklifts and warehouse equipment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
• Responsible for moving full cased product from the unitizer to pick faces or storage locations.
• Follows all company policies and procedures regarding GMPs, SOPs, Quality standards, and OSHA regulation.
• Mark the paperwork properly when making adjustments for product shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area to promote safety and efficiency.
• Trailer checks
• Ensure all paperwork is filled out and completed with required information in accordance with SOPs.
• Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment (certified)
• Must be able to clean and sanitize all equipment.
• Keeps accurate records of load sheets, inventory sheets, scrap sheets, and computerized equipment.
• Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Supervise boxline, loadout, and/or unitizer.
• Ensure all employees are doing the jobs as assigned according to all procedures.
• Ensure all employees receive the needed training to perform their job(s).

Position Overview

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• The applicant must be 18 years of age.
• Previous experience in a warehouse setting
• Familiarity with operating all forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to warehouse operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for troubleshooting equipment issues.

Working Conditions

• (S)he may be required to work in outside weather for the duration of the shift in the staging and loading of trailers.
• May be required to stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually for the duration of the shift.
• Must be able to work in both very hot (more than 100 degrees) and very cold (less than 20 degrees below zero) and in a very wet and humid environment for extended periods of time.
