Job summary

Angel of the Winds Casino Resort invites applications for a kitchen position at Vento, our new Italian restaurant inside the Heritage Tasting Room. Starting wage is $19.23/hr. The role requires preparing a range of dishes, maintaining high standards of quality, and supporting banquets and events.

Candidates should demonstrate strong knife skills, knowledge of modern cooking techniques, and exceptional guest service. Expect a busy casino kitchen with day, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Excellent guest service skills required.
• Proficiency with classic knife skills (julienne, chiffonade, brunoise, batonnet, etc.).
• Butchery skills preferred but not required.
• Familiar with modern cooking techniques (sous vide, combi oven, hydrocolloids).
• Must be customer service oriented with excellent verbal and written communication.
• Able to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain professional, courteous relationships with all levels and external contacts.
• Ability to handle multiple prep or cooking tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare eggs, meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other items for cooking on broilers, sauté, ovens, grills, fryers and related equipment.
• Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
• Follow standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and approved recipes.
• Follow all kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary workstation and follow HACCP guidelines.
• Ensure proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes.
• Assist in all areas of food preparation and production as needed.
• Assist with banquets and off-site events as required.
• Open and close kitchen per established checklists for stations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of eggs, meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, sauté, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.

• Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and approved recipes.
• Knows and complies consistently with all kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation while following all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines when preparing hot and cold foods.
• Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up standards for all dishes.
• Assists in all areas of food preparation and production as needed throughout the casino.
• Assists with banquets and off-site events as needed.
• Opens and closes kitchen properly by following the established opening and closing checklists for kitchen stations.
• Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class B gaming license from the Stillaguamish Tribal Gaming Agency and Washington State.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Washington State Health Card (Food Worker Card).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication. The position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires repetitive movement with the ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift. There are no adverse conditions, but employee is exposed to tobacco smoke on a regular basis. This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week work operation.
