This position is eligible for Eskaton's health benefits package the first of the month following 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off benefits program after 90 days of employment.

The starting salary for this position ranges from $18.75 to $22.96/hour. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.

Position Summary:

The Cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals for the residents, cooking a variety of foods that ensure the highest quality and resident satisfaction, and maintaining cleanliness of the food services area. The Cook supervises the kitchen staff in the absence of the Manager or Lead Cook.

Eskaton Gold River is a picturesque senior living community consisting of 55 assisted living units, 23 memory care units, and 17 pre-memory care units. The Gold River staff focuses on wellness, nutrition, and socialization to enhance the life experience of each resident. Many members of our team have been with us for more than eight years and are part of the tight-knit community that residents enjoy. Eskaton’s dietary department offers desirable shifts on a regular weekly schedule, and our teams work together to prepare and serve gourmet meals for our residents in a collaborative, welcoming, and positive environment. Our dietary staff also get to enjoy their evenings as shifts are finished by 8:00 PM.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school graduate or GED.

Training and Experience:

Must have one to two years of recent experience as a cook. Serve Safe Certification.

Job Knowledge:

Must have knowledge of safe food handling and preparation. Must have knowledge of good practices to avoid waste and misuse. Must have the ability to present foods in an attractive and palatable manner and to test the quality of food by taste and smell. Must have a broad knowledge of breakfast, lunch, and dinner entree preparation, including scratch soups, sauces/gravies, starches, and vegetables.

The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post-offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, COVID test, TB screen test, and health screen.
