Basic Function/Scope

The Line Cook prepares meals according to predetermined menus, may supervise junior cooks, specializes in cold food items, ensures proper portions, and assists in food preparation as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare food items in bulk or to order, assist in speeding up food production, and prepare meals to customer specifications.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
  • Follow all food handling procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure proper food portions and quality.
  • Follow recipes accurately.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
Business Growth and Marketing
  • Encourage repeat business with quality meals.
  • Minimize waste, record production, pre-cost and post-cost menus.
Leadership and Managerial Skills
  • May supervise junior staff and create cost-effective, customer-driven menus.
