Responsibilities

A cook at The Laurels prepares delicious, nourishing, and well-balanced meals that meet the daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each guest. Responsibilities include:

• Following standardized recipes
• Preparing foods according to menus developed by registered dietitians
• Cooking or preparing appetizing, well-presented, and nutritionally adequate meals in proper quantities, temperatures, and time frames
• Using food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
• Preparing alternatives to accommodate guest preferences and meal refusals
• Supervising culinary staff in food storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning

In the absence of the chef or dietary manager, the cook supervises culinary staff.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
