Responsibilities

A cook at The Laurels prepares nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to the dietary needs of each guest. Responsibilities include:

  • Following standardized recipes
  • Preparing foods according to menus developed by registered dietitians
  • Cooking or preparing appetizing, well-presented, and nutritionally adequate meals at proper temperatures and times
  • Using food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste
  • Providing meal alternatives to accommodate guest preferences and refusals
  • Supervising culinary staff regarding food storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning

In the absence of the chef or dietary manager, the cook supervises culinary staff.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • One year of experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred
