Job summary

Orchard Grove, a Apple Rehab Inc facility in Connecticut, is hiring a Cook Supervisor to lead dietary staff and ensure meals meet residents' dietary needs. You will work with the Dietary Manager on planning, scheduling and equipment management in a compassionate, family-oriented community.

Responsibilities include supervising kitchen staff, preparing meals, participating in planning, and maintaining quality and cost controls within budget. Per diem opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in long-term care or hospital food service is preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math, measure and record data.
• Demonstrates cooperation and ability to work as a team.

• Supervise dietary personnel and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with the Dietary Manager on assignments, performance evaluations, and coverage in the manager's absence.
• Prepare and serve meals per residents' dietary requirements and assist in planning, purchasing and equipment management.
• Assist in production planning, forecasting needs and recipe development.

Responsibilities:

As a Cook Supervisor, you will lead and supervise dietary personnel, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. Collaborating closely with the Dietary Manager, you will oversee work assignments, contribute to performance evaluations, and assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager. Your role will involve the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with residents' dietary needs while actively participating in production planning, purchasing, and equipment management.

Key Duties:

• Supervise and monitor dietary personnel, ensuring compliance with protocols and guidelines.


• Prepare and serve meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements, in coordination with the Dietary Manager.


• Contribute insights to production planning, including forecasting needs and recipe development.


• Assist in the procurement and proper storage of food and equipment.


• Ensure the dietary department consistently delivers visually appealing, high-quality meals within budget constraints.


• Proficiently operate various kitchen equipment and adaptive tools for residents' specialized needs.


• Respond promptly to residents' requests and needs, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.


• Collaborate with the Dietary Manager in planning and executing facility-wide special events.

Qualifications:

• Eligible for company sponsored Serv Safe Certification after 90 days of employment.


• Must be able to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights as well as lift items up to 50 lbs.


• Ability to read, write and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure and record data.


• Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.


• Ability to supervise and instruct others.


• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.


• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.


• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.


• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks


• Ability to communicate with residents, staff and family members in a professional manner.
