Cook Supervisor – A dynamic role supporting and leading the kitchen team. Responsibilities include overseeing daily kitchen operations, meal plan preparation, supporting food service & custodial functions, and ensuring a clean, safe, and well‑organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise food service employees to support efficient daily kitchen operations.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Manager to develop menus, recipes, and cleaning schedules.
- Plan and prepare meals with kitchen staff, coordinating daily meal production.
- Perform and oversee food service & custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility.
- Maintain kitchen storage areas and cleaning equipment in a safe and organized manner.
- Ensure staff follow proper food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Complete and maintain required HACCP logs.
- Monitor and restock food, materials, and supplies as needed.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2‑4 years of experience in kitchen management and meal preparation, ideally in a large‑scale food service environment.
- Minimum of 1‑2 years of supervisory experience with a team.
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets (grounds, chops, and purees).
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

- ServSafe Certification.
- Experience working in a hospital or convalescent home setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for giving clear instructions and supporting team members.
- Solid organizational skills for managing schedules, mealtimes, and other daily priorities.

Physical & Environmental Demands
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull 30‑50 lb. merchandise, with occasional heavier items requiring team‑lift support.
- Stand and walk for extended periods while moving continuously throughout the facility, food prep areas, and storage rooms.
- Bend, stoop, reach, and crouch frequently to retrieve ingredients, load dish machines, clean equipment, and restock stations.
- Use hands for chopping, portioning, serving, cleaning, and safely operating kitchen tools, dish machines, and sanitation equipment.
- Work in hot environments near ovens, steam tables, and grills, and in cold environments such as walk‑in refrigerators and freezers.
- Perform duties in a facility with elevated noise levels from machinery, ventilation systems, dishwashing equipment, and other food preparation equipment.
- Work around cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, degreasers, and strong food odors as part of routine food service and sanitation tasks.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, personal hygiene, and sanitation standards in accordance with military and health regulations.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, aprons, and hairnets, may be required. Training will be provided.
