Job Description
  1. Follow planned menus.
  2. Prepare food for resident and staff meals, including special events.
  3. Plan cooking schedules to ensure food is ready to serve on time.
  4. Cook food according to tested recipes and guidelines.
  5. Prepare desserts, pastries, breads, and salads.
  6. Carve meats in required portions.
  7. Prepare food for special diets.
  8. Serve food attractively and timely in proper utensils, hot or cold as required.
  9. Prepare trays for patients not dining in the room.
  10. Take requests for extra servings.
  11. Clear and clean tables after meals.
  12. Wash, rinse, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils; assist with cleaning as needed.
  13. Maintain cleanliness of stove, sinks, cabinets, and equipment.
  14. Keep the department clean and sanitized, including sweeping, mopping, and garbage removal.
  15. Use sanitary methods for handling, preparing, and serving food.
  16. Assist with other dietary duties, including paperwork.
  17. In the absence of the Dietary Director, assume responsibility for the department and staff, including finding replacements if needed.
Job Requirements
  1. Must be 18 or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Required to purchase and wear a uniform.
  3. Ability to operate equipment safely.
  4. Use supplies economically.
  5. Attend training and staff meetings as required.
  6. Maintain neat appearance and good hygiene.
  7. Follow all policies and procedures.
