Job summary

Fairacres Manor Inc. is hiring a full-time Cook/Shift Lead to prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents in a skilled nursing environment. You will follow approved menus, maintain kitchen operations, and ensure safety and sanitation.

The role offers competitive pay, shift differentials, and benefits including insurance and 401K. Prior Cook experience and ServSafe certification are preferred, with a high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience as a Cook preferred.
• Healthcare/skilled nursing home experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain timely meal service and smooth kitchen operations.
• Review daily menus and event calendars for ingredients and supplies.
• Prepare nutritious, visually appealing meals meeting dietary needs.
• Follow standardized recipes and authorize substitutions only when allowed.
• Serve food with proper portion control.
• Assist with special meals for events and celebrations.
• Estimate portions accurately and manage leftovers to reduce waste and costs.
• Adhere to sanitation, food safety, storage, and chemical handling regulations.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely (steamer, oven, grill, slicer, mixer, dishwasher).
• Keep cooler and freezer spaces organized and compliant.
• Complete daily cleaning tasks to uphold sanitation standards.

About the Role:

We’re seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team and help deliver high-quality, nutritious meals to our residents. In this role, you’ll prepare and serve food in accordance with approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines, ensuring delicious and safe dining experiences for all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain timely meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Review daily menus and event calendars to confirm necessary ingredients and supplies
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, visually appealing, and consistent with residents’ dietary needs
• Follow standardized recipes and make substitutions only when authorized
• Serve food using proper portion control methods
• Assist with preparing special meals for events and celebrations
• Accurately estimate portions and manage leftovers to minimize waste and control food costs
• Adhere to state and county regulations regarding sanitation, food safety, storage, recordkeeping, and chemical handling
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., steamer, oven, grill, meat slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher)
• Maintain organized, clean, and compliant cooler and freezer spaces
• Complete daily cleaning assignments to uphold sanitation standards
