State Hospital South (SHS) in Blackfoot, Idaho, is seeking a full-time Senior Cook to coordinate meal services for 100 people. This role involves preparing meals, portioning, serving food, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. SHS provides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for adults with serious mental illnesses, working closely with families and communities to support patient reintegration into the community.

This position is not eligible for telework. Employment is contingent upon a criminal history background check.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate daily work for kitchen staff, including meal prep, sanitation, and inventory management
  • Prepare meals according to menus and dietary standards, ensuring quality and sanitation
  • Serve food, apply garnishes, and maintain cleanliness of kitchen and service areas
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Approximately two years of experience in large-scale institutional or restaurant cooking, including recipe following and volume measurement calculations
  • Knowledge of food preparation, equipment care, sanitation, and safety practices
  • Experience training staff or supervising in a food service setting
  • Understanding of nutrition and special diets, with relevant experience or coursework
  • Supervisory experience preferred
