Cook - Restaurant 201031 - 5520 Caseyville Avenue, Washington Park, IL 62204 (Finance)

Reports To (Title): Restaurant General Manager

Department: Field Operations

Job Objective: To prepare and cook food products as specified by the Manager in Charge of the Shift while adhering to the specifications and procedures contained in the Cooking Section of the Church's Operating Standards Manual (the "OSM"). The role involves completing tasks in a timely, clean, and orderly manner.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary Functions:
  • Set up the batter table, collect all necessary smallwares, and prepare batter mix.
  • Ensure call sheets are complete, posted, and used effectively.
  • Check all equipment and report any malfunctions immediately to the Manager in Charge.
  • Balance fryer colors and add sufficient shortening to maintain the proper level.
  • Filter and clean all fryers at designated times following safety guidelines.
  • Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs.
  • Prepare and cook all food products as directed by the Manager in Charge, meeting quality standards and specifications.
Secondary Functions:
  • Maintain a clean work area through "clean-as-you-go" practices following sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Verify that all necessary products and supplies are stocked and available.
  • Keep the cooler organized and clean.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager in Charge of the Shift.

Physical Demands:

Lifting requirements include medium to heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally). The cook must be able to:

  • Stand and walk continuously for up to eight hours.
  • Lift and stack 35-50 pounds frequently, and carry up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Lift and carry trash bags and push or pull equipment and supplies regularly.
  • Climb ladders or stools and reach overhead or below to access items.
  • Handle various shapes, sizes, and textures of food and supplies.
  • Use fingers continuously for food preparation and handling.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members.
