Cook - Restaurant 200237 - 1801 Carolina Ave., Bessemer, AL 35020 (Finance)

Reports To (Title): Restaurant General Manager

Department: Field Operations

Job Objective

To prepare and cook food products as specified by the Manager in Charge of the Shift while adhering to the specifications and procedures contained in the Cooking Section of the Church's Operating Standards Manual (the "OSM"). The role requires completing tasks in a timely, clean, and orderly manner.

Essential Job Functions
Primary Functions
  1. Set up the batter table, gather smallwares, and prepare batter mix.
  2. Ensure call sheets are complete, posted, and utilized effectively.
  3. Check all equipment and report malfunctions immediately to the Manager in Charge.
  4. Balance fryer colors and add sufficient shortening to maintain proper levels.
  5. Filter and clean fryers at designated times following all safety guidelines.
  6. Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs.
  7. Prepare and cook food products as directed by the Manager in Charge and based on business needs.
  8. Ensure all food products meet specifications, procedures, and quality standards as per the SOM, including adherence to holding times.
Secondary Functions
  1. Maintain a clean work area using "clean-as-you-go" practices, following sanitation and safety guidelines.
  2. Verify that all necessary products and supplies are stocked at the batter area.
  3. Keep the cooler organized and clean.
  4. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager in Charge of the Shift.
Physical Demands

Lifting requirements include medium to heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally). The cook must be able to:

  1. Stand and walk continuously on hard floors for up to 8 hours.
  2. Frequently lift and stack items weighing 35 to 50 pounds; occasionally carry items up to 75 pounds.
  3. Lift and carry trash bags and other items as needed.
  4. Push or pull equipment and supplies regularly.
  5. Climb ladders or stools to reach high shelves periodically.
  6. Stoops or squats frequently to reach low items.
  7. Reach overhead, forward, and underneath to access various surfaces and equipment.
  8. Handle a variety of food items and supplies.
  9. Use fingers continuously for food prep and handling.
  10. Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  11. Maintain awareness of surroundings and safety.
