Job Objective

To prepare and cook food products as specified by the Manager in Charge of the Shift while adhering to the specifications and procedures contained in the Cooking Section of the Church's Operating Standards Manual (the "OSM"). The role involves completing tasks in a timely, clean, and orderly manner.

Essential Job Functions:
Primary Functions
  • Set up the batter table, gather all necessary smallwares, and prepare batter mix.
  • Ensure call sheets are complete, posted, and utilized.
  • Check all equipment and report malfunctions immediately to the Manager in Charge.
  • Balance fryer oil color and add sufficient shortening to maintain proper levels.
  • Filter and clean fryers at scheduled times following all safety guidelines.
  • Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs.
  • Prepare and cook food products according to business needs and Manager's instructions.
  • Ensure all food products meet specifications, procedures, and quality standards as per the SOM, including adherence to holding times.
Secondary Functions:
  • Maintain a clean work area following sanitation and safety guidelines, practicing "clean-as-you-go".
  • Verify that all necessary products and supplies are stocked at the batter area.
  • Keep the cooler organized and clean.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager in Charge.
Physical Demands:

Lifting requirements include medium to heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally).

  • Stand and walk continuously on hard floors for up to eight hours to prepare and cook food, stock items, and transport between areas.
  • Lift and stack 35-50 pounds of food and supplies from various heights; occasionally carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Lift and carry trash bags weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Push or pull equipment and carts regularly.
  • Climb stools or ladders to reach high shelves periodically.
  • Stoops or squats frequently to access low shelves or the floor.
  • Reach overhead, forward, and underneath shelves and equipment constantly.
  • Handle various shapes, sizes, and textures of items continuously.
  • Use fingers bilaterally for food prep and unloading boxes.
  • Communicate continuously with customers, management, and team members.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and location of items needed for duties.
