Cook Position

The Cook prepares large batch meals at the Men's Residential Center under supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean kitchen, complying with sanitation standards, and following recipes.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred prior commercial cooking experience
  • Experience with USDA recipes is a plus
  • Must obtain or have a current Multnomah County Food Handlers Permit within 30 days
  • Experience in nonprofit or social services preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Problem-solving skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Active driver’s license, insurance, and ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, walk, and reach

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare large meals and assist with events
  • Follow production sheets and recipes
  • Maintain cleanliness
  • Support staff and volunteers

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Stand for extended periods, exposed to heat, steam, and noise
  • Use kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, slicers, etc.

This is an on-call position, 0-19 hours per week.
