Job description

Join to apply for the Cook PT role at Omaha Performing Arts.

Position Summary: Produce visually appealing and good tasting foods to Omaha Performing Arts standards. Prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foodstuffs as required. Serve customers during meal periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Season and cook food according to recipes and experience.
  • Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking, taking temperatures, and adjusting seasoning to customer tastes.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food; serve to patrons.
  • Regulate oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures.
  • Assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
  • Follow all safety rules and actively prevent accidents.
  • Uphold service values and ethics of the client company.
  • Use basic computer programs for data and menu organization.
  • Comply with all ServSafe and HACCP principles; possess ServSafe Certificate or Food Handlers Card.
  • Promote Omaha Performing Arts core values of Trust, Team, Integrity, and Inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to safely use standard kitchen equipment, including knives, convection ovens, slicers, steamers, etc.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and food preparation techniques.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Work on feet for 7.5 hours/day excluding breaks.
  • Work under pressure during peak periods.
