Job summary

BARNES-JEWISH WEST COUNTY HOSPITAL is seeking a Diet Aide to support patient meals, retail and catering operations, following all dietary requirements. You will assist in food preparation, meal assembly, and proper storage while maintaining sanitation standards.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and ServSafe Certification. The role is PRN, 6:00am–2:30pm or 11:30am–8:00pm shifts, and is non-benefits eligible.

Responsibilities

• Preps and prepares food items by cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, pureeing, marinating, etc.
• Follows standardized recipes, producing food items using various cooking techniques and institutional equipment.
• Properly chills and stores foods following labeling, dating and food safety guidelines.
• Ensures compliance with special dietary requirements and nutritional restrictions.

Overview

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. The Dietary department committed to promoting healthy food options for patients, visitors and the community by providing a variety of meal plans to meet the needs of our patients. We offer ''Catering to You'' a program that brings hospitality hosts and hostesses to each patient's room to discuss the menu offerings, take their order and assemble, deliver and retrieve their tray. Our cafeteria is open daily, serving patients, visitors and staff.

Role Purpose

Performs a variety of food service production activities such as pre-preparation and preparation of hot and cold foods for patient services, retail and catering operations following all dietary requirements. Properly handles and stores food per applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Preps and prepares food items by cutting, chopping, slicing, dicing, pureeing, marinating, etc. This includes washing, peeling, cutting, seeding vegetables/fruits, along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
• Follows standardized recipes, producing food items by utilizing various cooking techniques such as sautéing, broiling, braising, blanching, baking, grilling, deep fat frying, and steaming using a variety of institutional equipment while meeting proper food quality and proper serving temperatures.
• Properly chills and stores foods in designated areas following all labeling, dating, food safety guidelines and rotation procedures as well as completing designated food safety quality control logs.
• Ensures compliance of special dietary requirements, nutritional restrictions, allergens, modified textures and other special dietary needs.
• Cleans kitchen equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure conformance to the highest level of sanitation.
