Job Description

Forefront Healthcare is currently seeking a Cook to elevate the dining experience for those we serve! If you have a passion for cooking and want to make an impact every day, this is a great position for you!

Pay Range: $15.00 Per Hour

Summary/Objective:

Responsible for preparing nutritious and appetizing food for residents following established recipes and adhering to federal, state, and local standards and guidelines in proper food storage, handling, and preparation. Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment, independently and as part of a team.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepare meals according to planned menus.
  • Serve food following established portion control procedures.
  • Prepare food using standardized recipes and accommodate special requests.
  • Ensure food is at proper temperatures; complete associated checklists and logs.
  • Assist with inventory management and receiving goods from vendors.
  • Coordinate menus and special requests with the Executive Chef/Cottage Manager/Chef Manager.
  • Adapt schedules to accommodate emergency situations.
  • Follow safe food handling policies, including glove use.
  • Assist with daily or scheduled cleaning duties as per policies.
  • Adhere to therapeutic and mechanically altered diet guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Ability to coach and lead peers in the kitchen.

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive wrist motions.

Physical Demands:
  • Stand and walk continuously.
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, and manipulating food and supplies.
  • Visual acuity for examining foods.
  • Work with chemicals and cleaning agents safely.
  • Exposure to temperature and humidity changes.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Hourly, including days, evenings, some weekends, and holidays.

Required Education and Experience:
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of food preparation and service experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication with staff, residents, and families.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks with accuracy and care.
  • Flexibility to work during emergencies and handle repetitive tasks.
