Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a PRN Cook to prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold foods for meal service, catering, and cafe operations. Shifts run days from 6:00am to 3:30pm, with 5- to 8-hour shifts as needed.

The role involves following recipes, rotating perishables, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and delivering high-quality customer service to patients, families, and staff under supervision by a Sous Chef or Executive Chef.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Three years of relevant work experience in lieu of high school diploma or equivalent.

Job Overview

The Cook prepares food for patients, families or staff, and some catering events; develops culinary techniques and skills.

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Job Status: PRN, as needed

Shift: Days. 5- to 8-hour shifts between 6:00am to 3:30pm

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks a variety of hot and/or cold food items for meal service in Room Service, Catering or the Cafe. Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning and cooking.
• Rotates perishable food items, check and verifies food temperatures, labels products with expiration dates.
• May work at a station in the cafe serving customers.
• Provides a high level of customer service to team members, patients and visitors.
• Assists fellow team members as needed; assists with shift coverage as required.
• Maintains a clean workstation and equipment, observes scheduled kitchen maintenance, and adheres to industry standard sanitation practices in compliance with state, city and county regulations.
• Performs daily functions under the direct supervision of a Sous Chef, Executive Sous or Executive Chef.

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $18.81 to $28.21
