Job summary

Vered Healthcare Group in Port St. Joe, FL, is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare meals for residents at Shores Nursing and Rehab Center. You will follow recipes, production guidelines, and safety standards to ensure high-quality, nutritious meals for patients and residents.

Responsibilities include setting up stations, measuring ingredients, operating ovens and mixers, and maintaining clean, sanitized work areas while delivering friendly service and teamwork with staff.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook or in a related role is required.
• ServeSafe certification is preferred, LTC background is a plus.
• Knowledge of food preparation principles and safety regulations.
• Basic math and counting skills are demonstrated.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are essential.
• Requires lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Background screening may be required per state guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
• Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
• Safely utilize a variety of utensils.
• Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines.
• Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, residents, and co-workers.
• Adhere to Vered Healthcare Group's safety policies and procedures, including proper food safety and sanitation

Job Summary:
At Vered Healthcare Group, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and services to our patients and communities. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Cook to join our team at Shores Nursing and Rehab Center in Port St. Joe, Florida.

About the Role:
As a Cook at our facility, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. You will work independently to set up your workstation, prepare ingredients, and utilize a variety of utensils and equipment to cook and prepare a range of dishes. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and positive attitude will ensure that our residents and patients receive high-quality meals that meet their nutritional needs and exceed their expectations.

• Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations

• Demonstrates basic math and counting skills

• Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

• Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 25 lbs

• Must be able to pass level 2 fingerprinting with an Eligible status
