Description

Position: Cook

Reporting To: Executive Chef / Dining Manager

Position Summary: As the Cook, reporting directly to the Executive Chef/ Dining Manager, you will ensure the provision of quality food preparation in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations while supporting the team in optimizing each resident's well-being and overall experience.

Essential Functions
  1. Cook and bake
  2. Help with serving meals, drinks, and maintaining a clean work area
  3. Support all catering, room service, special party needs, marketing functions, etc.
  4. Take drink and food orders
  5. Sanitize, set, and bus tables
  6. Maintain food inventories and perform food cost control measures
  7. Possess a working knowledge of individual assignments and resident dining needs
  8. Practice sanitation regulations and safety rules regarding food handling, labeling, and storage
  9. Complete daily checklist of duties for kitchen and dining room
  10. Follow all policies for Dining Service Department
  11. Assist with Sales/Marketing procedures to develop satisfaction levels
  12. Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; work/life experience considered
  • 2-4 Years of experience
  • Knowledge of multiple cooking techniques including baking, sauté, fry, sauces, and cold food prep
  • Strong knife skills, ability to follow recipes, and knowledge of measurements
  • Understanding and practice of proper food handling techniques
  • Current ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift heavy items, and carry trays
  • Collaborative team player
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with organizational skills
  • Appreciation of seniors and understanding of aging process
  • Basic mathematical skills
Physical Demands

Must be prepared to work with residents who may exhibit disruptive behaviors. Routine activities include sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional crouching and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required. Vision abilities should include seeing near and far distances.
