Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma / GED

Experience: Experience as a cook or cook assistant in either a restaurant, hospital, or nursing home is a plus but not necessary. Will train the right person.

We offer weekly payroll, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and tuition reimbursement.

Summary:

Prepares and cooks all food for residents according to standardized recipes and regulatory and departmental policies.

Hours for Part-Time:
Various (either) 6 am-2 pm, or 11:30 am - 7:30 pm, 4 days per week, every other weekend required.

Duties:

  • Participates in patient tray assembly.
  • Prepares foods of high quality in specified quantities for both regular and modified diets.
  • Meets meal schedules.
  • Arranges steam table for tray line service.
  • Adheres to sanitation laws and regulations for food service, including the State health Code and the FDA Food Code.
  • Demonstrates proper food handling procedures as described in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a safe environment for geriatric patients.
  • Displays good guest relations and a positive attitude toward all visitors, patients, and vendors.
  • Performs other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  • Vision sufficient to read small print; color discrimination to distinguish modified menus and sanitation codes.
  • Flexibility in work environments. Part-time is an every-other-weekend position. Per Diem is as needed.
  • Regular lifting, bending, walking, standing, pushing, and pulling as typical of physical labor related to food service operations. Exposure to heat, cold, hot surfaces, liquids, wet floors, sharp utensils, equipment, cleaning, and sanitizing chemicals.
