Position: Cook

Job Status: Full-time or Part-time

Reports To: Executive Chef / Dining Manager

Position Summary

As the Cook, reporting directly to the Executive Chef/ Dining Manager, you will ensure the provision of quality food preparation in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations while supporting the team in optimizing each resident's well-being and overall experience.

Essential Functions
  • Cook and bake
  • Help with serving meals, drinks, and maintaining a clean work area
  • Support catering, room service, special events, and marketing functions
  • Take food and drink orders
  • Sanitize, set, and bus tables
  • Maintain food inventories and control costs
  • Follow sanitation regulations and safety rules
  • Complete daily checklists for kitchen and dining room
  • Follow all policies for the Dining Service Department
  • Assist with sales and marketing to enhance satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; experience considered
  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Knowledge of multiple cooking techniques including baking, sauté, fry, sauces, and cold food prep
  • Strong knife skills, recipe following, and measurement knowledge
  • Understanding of proper food handling techniques
  • Current ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift heavy items, and perform physical tasks
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Understanding of aging and senior care preferred
  • Basic math skills
Physical Demands

Must be able to handle activities like sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, hearing, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for disabilities.
