Job summary

University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg seeks a food service assistant to devise and update weekly menus, prepare and serve meals for children at the ChildCare Centers, and maintain accurate records of food purchased and prepared. Responsibilities include creating menus, shopping lists, reviewing recipes for bulk production, and ensuring safe, clean kitchen operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch following established menu, serving sizes and times.
• Create weekly menus and shopping lists.

• Maintain weekly food purchases and production records daily.
• Analyze menus to be cost-effective and manage inventory.
• Oversee kitchen sanitation and safety, and assist with laundry when needed.

• Organize and/or prepare snacks following established menu,serving sizes and times. 15%
• Establish a routine that enables baked goods to be prepared inadvance. 15%
• Maintain complete, accurate records of weekly food purchasesand food production forms daily. 8%
• Analyze and develop menus and shopping lists to becost-effective. Purchase local food items and supplies fromestablished shopping lists; may substitute for seasonal orspecial-priced items. Inventory and request purchases from auniversity-contracted food source or service. 12%
• Oversee proper maintenance of the kitchen and kitchen supplies.Assure all food storage and preparation areas are completed in asafe, clean and sanitary manner. Assist with laundry duties whenneeded. 5%

Typical Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in foodpreparation/cooking.
• Nutrition background/training preferred.

• CPR and First Aid within the first 90 days of employment: mustbe pediatric CPR

Working Hours and Day:
